Racist, anti-immigrant, fear. So sad. The community loses. The students lose. The local economy and business will also lose if they cannot embrace their changing demographic.

In my experience, it is extremely common for decisions to be made that are not in the best interests of kids. Much of the time, that is the least factor, in making decisions.

My oldest daughter would have been entering second grade when we left, and her teachers couldn’t keep up with the needs of the students. It has been a joy to see what progress has been made since that time, and I have family members who have been part of that growth. If those dual language resources had been in place at the time, we would have stayed in Russellville. We moved back home, after our kids graduated from college.

Because education was our priority, we had to move away. Today, that education is available in the local community beyond anything we could have imagined at the time. That progress took many years, along with great dedication, hard work, and the dedication of local community leaders. That’s what makes Russellville such a good place to live and work.

Thanks for bringing the behind the scenes information to our attention because I couldn’t understand why Mr Grimes would retire either. What a tragedy that a few people could use politics to control the future of so many others. I will say, keep digging and look at the money. Deceitful politicians usually have personal interests and their own money to protect.
